Organized tours to remote places and communities are increasingly popular. Is it a positive or negative development for local people and the local environment?

很多人去偏远地区旅游，这个现象总体来说弊大于利。虽然当地的经济会受益，比如创造就业机会，增加居民的收入，但是当地人的平静生活也被打破，一些独特的文化习俗可能会消失。而对于环境也非常不利，主要表现在，修建基础设施接待游客难免会破坏当地的生态环境，加上车辆造成的交通污染，以及游客的一些不文明行为，所以对于环境会有负面影响。

Different from those who prefer to visit well-developed tourist attractions, more and more people choose to travel to remote areas for sightseeing. Although this trend has some benefits, its negative consequences are more significant, for both local people and the environment.
For those who live in remote communities, turning their homeland into a tourist site means employment opportunities and income generation. Traditionally, local inhabitants lived on farming, fishing or hunting, from which they could earn very limited income. With the development of tourism, more jobs are created in catering, hospitality and transportation, bringing residents more wealth and better material life. However, as crowds of tourists pour into undeveloped areas, the idyllic lifestyle of local people will be jeopardized and replaced by the hustle and bustle. Another concern is the invasion of modern civilization may pose a threat to the unique culture and custom of those remote communities.
In addition, the arrival of visitors at the undeveloped land can be a disaster to the environment. In the construction of roads and hotels, it is hard to avoid causing damage to the habitats of plants and animals. When local people are lured by the great economic benefits of developing tourism, they are likely to put the economy before the environment. Local people’s living environment will also suffer. A growing number of cars and buses often result in traffic congestion and air pollution. Some tourists may show inappropriate behavior, like shouting, graffiti, or littering. This is demonstrated by the fact that many once quiet villages have now become noisy and messy.
Overall, the influx of tourists into remote areas and communities has negative impacts on local people and the environment.
