Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? All scientific discoveries should be shared with all scientists around the world, and governments or businesses should not keep any scientific discoveries secret.
Agree:
Today, the free exchange of information is the norm in the scientific community, and it is also a very important way for those who made discoveries to gain recognition from colleagues and to win the support of those who can help.
[Example: publishing papers in academic journals, winning awards, getting invitations and investments]
The best way to avoid scientific discoveries from being used for evil purposes is not to hind them but to educate everyone on why they can be potentially dangerous so that people can be prepared and figure out countermeasures.
[Example: Since the whole world knows that nuclear materials can be made into weapons that could end our civilization, treaties are signed internationally and laws are made in all countries to prevent nuclear materials from being used in the wrong way]
Some people might say that sharing information about the latest findings could make a business or government lose its lead in the competition, but this is a huge misunderstanding because knowing what others found is one thing and being able to make similar discoveries is another.
[Example: NASA informs the scientific community and the public whenever they find something interesting or important, and they are still the best in the world and have never lost their lead]
Some schools are considering offering weekly outdoor classes that give students aged 5-18 the chance to visit nearby parks or reserves in an effort to help students grow up to be environmentally conscious people. They will be guided by teachers as they learn about the environment and the natural world. Do you believe that weekly attendance at such outdoor classes is worthwhile?
阅读:Rideshare(网约车)的好处
