The increasing frequency of natural disasters within recent decades has, to a certain degree, promoted concerns about global warming and environmental protection. It has been widely accepted that excessive carbon emission is the real culprit. Still, proposing an instant limitation on traditional fuels in every corner of the world is never equally logically sound.
Proponents of the proposal claimed that burning natural gases and petroleum emits a tremendous amount of carbon dioxide and gives rise to the rising temperature. Indeed, every day, millions of tons of greenhouse gases are released from the tailpipes of automobiles and chimneys of factories, and actions must be taken before the situation worsens irreversibly. After all, the warming temperature will not only eradicate extinct species by destroying their habitats but also bring about catastrophes for humans ourselves. However, for the sake of all human kinds, the discrepancy among international communities should also be noticed. The immediate decrease in fuels like petroleum would be a disaster for oil exporter countries since they would be faced with a dramatic shrinking in national revenue from international trade.
Besides, for over a hundred less developed nations, instant limitation on fossil fuel use is neither practical nor sensible. To achieve national prosperity, those governments are left with no option but to establish their own industry systems, given their disadvantaged positions in global trade. To restrict fossil fuels in third-world countries is to deny them from national development, thus refusing billions of local residents' wishes to improve living standards. When attempts are proposed for the entire humankind, there is no reason to ignore the existence of the majority.
To sum up, no one would deny the goodwill behind any environmentalist suggestions, but when great care should be paid in case of excessive impulsive policies being issued.
