01"six and two threes"是什么意思?

我们先来看英文词典的解释：

a situation in which the alternatives are considered equivalent

被认为是对等的一种情况

所以six and two three = 半斤八两，不相上下

例：

It's six and two threes to me . They were both at fault.

对我来说，这是半斤八两。他们两人都有错。

还有一个相似的短语，表达稍微复杂些

six of one and half a dozen of the other

这个俚语直译为“一个人的六个和另一个人的半打”

半打就是六个

两者完全相同，只是说法不同而已

故用来比喻两种东西一模一样

表达“半斤八两，不相上下”

例：

A: Shall we give Xiaojiang chocolates or flowers?

我们应该送小酱巧克力还是花？

B: I don't know, it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.

不知道，都差不多。

02“at sixes and sevens”是什么意思?

at sixes and sevens 是常用的俚语

意思主要有两个：

乱七八糟，杂乱无章；（心里）七上八下的

( 适用于描述临时、暂时的状况)

例：

Xiaojiang's room is at sixes and sevens. 

小酱的房间乱七八糟的。

James was at sixes and sevens when he was about to tell the truth.  

James要说真相的时候，心里七上八下的。

意见不一；不和

例：

They are all at sixes and sevens about what to do next.

他们对下一步要做什么都意见不一。

03"six-pack abs"是什么意思?

six-pack abs = 六块腹肌

abs是 腹肌abdominal muscles [æbˈdɒmɪnl ˈmʌslz] 的缩写

八块腹肌 = eight-pack abs

例：

Every star in Hollywood wants six-pack abs.

好莱坞明星都想拥有六块腹肌。

04"watch your six"是什么意思?

我们在美剧里经常会听到 watch your six

比如《复联4》里战争机器对鹰眼说：

You guys watch each other's six.

“watch your six”最早是用在空军作战中的词语

6点钟方向是人的正后方

空军作战时飞行员基本看不到正后方

而敌人又特别喜欢在后面突袭

所以飞行员们常常会叮嘱队友watch your six

意思是“注意你身后”

后来也延伸用来叫别人“小心行事”
